Church & State (A Sinister Plot)

On February 20, 2012, in Poems/Lyrics, Think About It, by LuckyLogan

Church And State (A Sinister Plot)
I paint the analytical plot of political masterminds.
The elect of yours who mask the minds
Of the masses combined
For more of the common bottom line.
To complete this feat these men must keep your heart in line.
To ensure your feet will follow right behind.
To ensure no slave will cross the line,
They tame the heart, without which you infernally drown down the line.
They liven up your minds
Providing a piece of bread and some wine.
They feed you to own your mind.
They divide and dangle food for which people fight.
After which they undermine the feuding masses to fuel the fire
For their funeral pyre.
This serves to further bring their evil to light.
Calculated since the days of candles for light,
Are these tricks to subjugate all manner of man alike.
Empty stomachs keep the soul maligned or so you’re trained to think.
They know the human spirit is slow to extinct
So to slow your drive they attempt to lynch your will:
I.e. Most T.V. programs are programmed to inhibit your natural skills.
You’re facing a distinct challenge they built, it’s no frills.
Their social engineers write strategy to extort their peers
For the fruit of your land you till ’til it’s theirs.
Listen here, you’re taxed your first bite.
You’re taxed your birthright.
In blissful ignorance your whitewashed minds recite
The credo of greed in blind faith only to die in wait:
Not knowing bank notes bankroll diplomacy
In any and every despotic democracy.
To own the tree one must control the seed.
So illiteracy must literally breed complacency.
Commonplace, you’ll see free thought is spurned.
Since the keyword is earn, freedom is learned.
And on a cross dignity is burned.
To speak anti-these is deemed insanity.
It’s even anti-Jesus to believe in humanity.
You’re taught to deem it vanity
To think freely and speak it candidly.
It’s cruel how the evening news misconstrues
The views of political soldiers in lieu of the truth.
These characters are assassinated by popular public opinion.
In a public of unpopular men with billions
It’s high treason and unpatriotic despite your good reasons to go against their minions.
To demonstrate dominion,
They speak with spectacular vernacular to ridicule your so called misfits.
Your warrior rebels who do all to resist it.
These types threaten the common bottom line.
Regarding your type, they blur the fundamental lines of civil rights.
It’s evil to you right.
Human rights can now slide unobserved. I’m perturbed off course.
Human cries go unheard when no one tries to deter the cause.
These architects of war,
Our dear warlords wage war from all our human flaws.
We’re the cause.
Evil expands from man to man,
Family to family, city to city,
Country to country, till it’s planet to planet.
It keeps expanding til you act your plan to can it.
They is you, listen power corrupts fools:
Who’s to blame, we all know who.
I point the finger at you. God bless you it’s you.

The Art Of Calm

On November 8, 2011, in Art/Pics/Graphics, Poems/Lyrics, Think About It, by LuckyLogan

The Art Of Calm
I write poems to keep me calm
Under pressure when the pressure
Keeps on pressing with tension
To steal my pleasure
I stay calm deliberately more
When the pressure hits in swarms
Like storms
That seem to never taper.
When saliva turns to vapor
I remember to breathe
To re-channel my chi
Back to my center at peace
Where my sensors perceive
That Life has no opposite
Death is a part of it
Life is the box it’s in
Death is the start of it
Fear in the heart will rid
The heart of true calm
The art of true calm
Is living detachment
From desire’s attachment
Self-mastery is hard work
Though a goal so farfetched
I’ve come too far just
To fetch this art etched
Into the human heart of sketches
To be a true master of it’s letters.
Getting better and better
Just studying the letters
Given this presence
He expresses his essence
Through the art of calm
Any qualm that comes he calms
With the art of calm
He’s atoned with his soul
Now claiming total control
He goes proclaiming it bold
It’s the art of calm.

Perspective Adjustment

On September 9, 2011, in Art/Pics/Graphics, Think About It, by LuckyLogan

My mother always tells me, “all things are subject to change”. There are many ways to look at that statement. Over the years, I’ve noticed that my interpretation of this very simple phrase has had many incarnations. I’m sure what it means to me now will change again. Perhaps!

Thought is the great instigator of change, whether conscious or unconscious. Thought comes before action and as such all actions can be controlled through thought. Like all skills, thought control requires commitment and consistent practice to achieve great command.

The point I am making is that, things really change to fit our perceptions of them. Our changing perspectives are the real agents of change in the world. Case in point, you meet someone, you think you hate ‘em. Somehow you get to know them and then become friends. Did they change, or did you change your perspective on them. Or both? This is perspective adjustment.

Another example, you’ve always been skinny. You are tired of being skinny so you decide to change your self image. You start lifting weights. You’re body responds and you start to look more and more muscular like you envisioned yourself. Had your self image not changed from skinny to muscular within yourself, would you have bothered even lifting a finger? This is perspective adjustment.

I’m starting to realize that perspective adjustment is a lifestyle choice that fosters emotional and mental fitness just as physical exercise does the body.  A never-ending process like working out, it should ideally never end as long as one is alive. Fitness is not an end but a process and must be maintained and improved upon. As you change, your goals change and so on and so forth. “All things are subject to change”.

Forgive And Forget

On August 24, 2011, in Albums, Produced By Lucky Logan, by LuckyLogan

Logan P. McCoy @ work.

I wrote this song without really thinking about it. Like a lot of my friends, I don’t really know my father. The circumstances for this fact may very well be very different than those of my peers. Nonetheless, we all ended up in the same condition of single parent upbringing.

This is where I take a minute to thank all the courageous strong willed mothers who raised us knuckle headed men by themselves. I gave my mother hell in a smooth way but she managed to break and mold me into the man I am today. Thank you Ma!

Funny enough, it was my mother who kept drilling into my head the value of forgiveness. With her strong Christian ethos, she always stresses the value of forgiveness and how it’s our duty to forgive those who fault us. I guess all those years of relentless drilling finally penetrated.

See, for a long time, I didn’t realize that I held a grudge against my father. It was so suppressed and buried that I just thought I was indifferent. To be honest, I just didn’t think about it. In retrospect I guess I was angry with him. I expressed my anger in ways seemingly isolated from the real cause.

Anyhow, the point I am trying to make is that, I didn’t really realize how angry I was until I forgave him. Naturally this process of forgiveness happened over time as I learned to channel my anger via creative outlets instead of my former enraged emotional outbursts.

I have no idea where this song came from. It came about as a result of merely trying to demonstrate to someone I know how to write a song about personal triumph and growth. To give him a clear example, I set out to write a song about my father. Before the pen hit the paper, I had no idea what I was going to write. The moment I started moving the pen, I went in a trance. Within a half hour, I had the words to the song. Remembering that I had a beat that would fit since it expressed the emotions within the words, I turned my computer on and proceeded to record what I had written. Within the hour I had a finished song.

Whoever came up with the now cliché “forgive and forget” was on to something. It’s really a burden to begrudge someone and then carry it around all your life. “Forgiving and forgetting” is the equivalent of dropping that unnecessary load of un-forgiveness we all bear.

I forgive you Pop!

Forgiven And Forgotten

This is the first song I am posting from the forthcoming 888. It’s called “Tyrone’s Letter”. Enjoy!

Heaven – Dj Mentos feat. Logan P. McCoy

This is a track I just finished recording about a half an hour ago. An old friend of mine, Dj Mentos sent me a few beats via facebook. I rarely check my page so I didn’t realize they were there until now. Anyhow, he asked me to record something to one of them and this is it. I like the beat a lot. It’s more like a scratch first draft recording but I like the grittiness and rawness of it. Mind you, I haven’t spoken to Mentos in years. This is our first real communication. He designed the original third message logo and Sdaerd’s Unexpected cover.

The track is crazy Mentos. Good to know you’re still at it.
